Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales is an action-adventure video game developed by Insomniac Games and published by Sony Interactive Entertainment in collaboration with Marvel Games. It was released in November 2020 for PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5, and later on PC in November 2022. The game is a standalone sequel set one year after the events of Marvel’s Spider-Man (2018). It continues the story of Miles Morales, who gains spider-like powers after being bitten by a genetically enhanced spider.

A year after the first game, Miles has been training under Peter Parker to become the next Spider-Man. Having moved with his mother, Rio Morales, to Harlem, Miles balances his new responsibilities as a hero and as the son of a local political candidate. Early in the story, while escorting a prison convoy with Peter, a containment accident releases the villain Rhino and several prisoners. During the chaotic battle, Peter is knocked unconscious, forcing Miles to face Rhino alone. In the heat of the fight, Miles unlocks a new power — bio-electric venom attacks — allowing him to defeat Rhino. Shortly after, they meet Simon Krieger, the CEO of Roxxon Energy Corporation, who boasts about a new clean-energy source called Nuform, which he plans to introduce in Harlem.

Soon after, Peter leaves for Europe with Mary Jane Watson, entrusting New York to Miles. When a mysterious group called The Underground breaks into a Roxxon facility, Miles investigates and encounters their technologically advanced weapons. Back home for Christmas, he reconnects with his best friend Phin Mason, whom he hasn’t seen in a year. The next day, with the help of his tech-savvy friend Ganke Lee, Miles launches the “Spider-App,” allowing New Yorkers to request help from Spider-Man directly. During one mission, his uncle Aaron Davis recognizes him as Spider-Man, revealing himself as the former criminal known as The Prowler.

At his mother’s campaign rally, The Underground, led by a masked figure known as The Tinkerer, attacks. Miles tries to intervene but inadvertently destroys the Brooklyn Bridge during the ensuing chaos. To his shock, he discovers that The Tinkerer is actually Phin. When Roxxon corners him, Miles unlocks another new ability — temporary invisibility — and escapes.

Determined to understand Phin’s motives, Miles learns that her brother, Rick Mason, was killed after uncovering the toxic effects of Nuform. Seeking revenge, Phin formed The Underground to destroy Roxxon. Meanwhile, Aaron warns Miles to stop before he meets the same fate as his father, Jefferson Davis, but Miles refuses. Pretending to join The Underground, he infiltrates their base and retrieves data on Roxxon’s operations, but Phin uncovers his deception. When Miles reveals his identity to her, she reacts with anger and betrayal.

Later, Miles and Phin are captured by Krieger and tortured, only to escape with difficulty. Miles discovers his uncle betrayed them to Roxxon, leading to a fierce confrontation. During their escape, they defeat Rhino once again, but Phin loses control and nearly kills him after he mocks Rick’s death. Beaten and injured, Miles barely makes it home, where his mother discovers his secret identity and accepts him for who he is.

When Miles learns that Phin plans to detonate the Nuform reactor beneath Roxxon Tower, he rushes to stop her. Aaron initially locks him up to protect him but eventually helps him break free. As Roxxon and The Underground clash in Harlem, Miles heads to the tower and confronts Phin. He warns her that the explosion will destroy Harlem, but she doesn’t believe him until it’s too late. As the reactor destabilizes, Miles absorbs the massive energy surge to save the city. Realizing his sacrifice, Phin lifts him high into the sky, allowing him to release the energy harmlessly before she dies in the explosion.

The community of Harlem protects Miles’s identity, declaring him “their Spider-Man.” Weeks later, Simon Krieger is arrested, Roxxon collapses under lawsuits, and Aaron turns himself in. Peter returns from Europe and congratulates Miles, acknowledging him as a true Spider-Man.

In the post-credits scenes, Norman Osborn orders Dr. Curt Connors to release his son, Harry Osborn, from stasis, setting up the events for the next chapter. In a touching epilogue, Miles honors Phin’s memory by placing their shared science award atop Trinity Church — a symbol of friendship, sacrifice, and his growth into a hero worthy of the Spider-Man legacy.
