Life Is Strange 2 is an episodic adventure video game directed by Raoul Barbet and Michel Koch, written by Raoul Barbet, Michel Koch, and Jean-Luc Cano, developed by Dontnod Entertainment, and published by Square Enix. It was released on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Microsoft Windows, and Linux.

The game introduces players to a new set of characters, departing from the cast of the original Life Is Strange. A teaser released on June 22, 2018, announced the first episode, which launched on September 27, 2018. The subsequent episodes were released as follows: Episode 2 on January 24, 2019; Episode 3 on May 9, 2019; Episode 4 on August 22, 2019; and Episode 5 on December 3, 2019.

The story of Life is Strange 2 follows two brothers, Sean and Daniel Diaz, aged 16 and 9, as they embark on a dramatic journey from Seattle, USA, to their father's hometown of Puerto Lobos, Mexico. Their lives are forever changed on October 28, 2016, when a tragic incident occurs.

After a confrontation involving Sean, Daniel, and a neighbor’s son escalates, their father, Esteban Diaz (age 45), arrives at the scene but is fatally shot by a responding police officer. In the shock and grief of the moment, Daniel lets out a scream, triggering a mysterious telekinetic explosion that knocks everyone nearby unconscious. When Sean regains consciousness, he finds the officer dead and the area in chaos. Fearing blame and driven by panic, he takes Daniel and flees, setting the brothers on a dangerous and emotional cross-country journey—one marked by survival, moral choices, and the growing power within Daniel.

In 2016, sixteen-year-old Sean Diaz lives in Seattle with his nine-year-old brother Daniel and their father Esteban, after their mother Karen left soon after Daniel’s birth. One day, Sean steps in when their neighbor Brett bullies Daniel, accidentally injuring him just as a police officer arrives. When Esteban tries to defuse the situation, the officer panics and fatally shoots him. A sudden explosion devastates the area, and Sean flees with Daniel before more police arrive. The brothers become fugitives, heading for their father’s hometown of Puerto Lobos, Mexico. Near Mount Rainier, a gas station owner recognizes them, but a kind traveler, Brody Holloway, helps them escape and provides a motel room. There, Daniel learns of their father’s death and—through grief and anger—unleashes telekinetic powers, the cause of the earlier explosion.

The brothers spend a month hiding in a cabin, where Sean helps Daniel train his abilities. When Daniel falls ill, they seek refuge with their grandparents, Claire and Stephen Reynolds, in Beaver Creek, Oregon. The couple welcomes them despite lingering resentment toward Karen. Daniel befriends Chris, the imaginative boy next door, and secretly uses his powers to save him, making Chris believe he has powers of his own. After the brothers secretly explore Karen’s old room, police track them down, forcing them to flee again with their grandparents’ help.

Traveling south, Sean and Daniel join drifters Finn and Cassidy, who work on a cannabis farm in California. After tensions rise, a botched heist against their boss Merrill ends violently when Daniel loses control, destroying the house and injuring Sean’s eye.

Two months later, Sean awakens from a coma in FBI custody and learns Daniel is in Haven Point, Nevada, under the control of Lisbeth, a cult leader exploiting his powers. With help from Jacob and a reunited Karen, Sean rescues Daniel, and the three head to Away, Arizona, planning to cross into Mexico.

At the border, Daniel uses his powers to break through the barrier, but they are ambushed. Depending on Sean’s choices, the brothers’ fate diverges: Sean may surrender, die, or escape into Mexico—while Daniel’s future reflects the moral lessons he learned from his brother.
