A Way Out is a cooperative action-adventure video game developed by Hazelight Studios and published by Electronic Arts. It was released on March 23, 2018, as a digital download for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Windows.

A Way Out is a two-player cooperative action-adventure game that can only be played in co-op—either locally or online. Playing solo is not possible. Additionally, the game features a "Friends Pass" system, allowing players to invite a friend to join the game for free, even if that friend doesn't own a copy.

Each player controls one of the two protagonists, working together through a reluctant partnership that explores themes of trust, consequences, and personal sacrifice as your decisions shape the narrative.

A Way Out is a cooperative action-adventure game set in 1972 that follows Vincent Moretti and Leo Caruso, two inmates who form an unlikely partnership to escape from prison and seek revenge on a mutual enemy. Vincent, imprisoned for fraud and murder, meets Leo, a brash and impulsive criminal jailed for theft and armed robbery. After Vincent saves Leo from an assassination attempt ordered by crime boss Harvey, the two develop a cautious alliance. When Vincent helps Leo steal a tool for his escape plan, they agree to collaborate, as both share a grudge against Harvey.

Using teamwork and ingenuity, Vincent and Leo break out of prison during a storm and flee through the wilderness. As they rest by a campfire, Vincent reveals his tragic past: Harvey framed him for his brother’s murder after a failed money-laundering deal. Leo, in turn, admits that Harvey betrayed him during a stolen gem sale, leading to his arrest. Together, they steal a car from a farmhouse and evade pursuing police.

Reuniting with Leo’s wife Linda and son Alex, the pair tracks Harvey’s location to Mexico through one of his associates. To arm themselves, they rob a gas station and buy weapons from Jasmine, who later betrays them. Vincent learns that his wife Carol has given birth, and the two briefly visit the hospital before police intervene. Escaping once more, they meet Emily, a pilot who flies them to Mexico.

At Harvey’s mansion, the duo fights through waves of guards and ultimately kills Harvey after reclaiming the Black Orlov gem. However, upon returning to the U.S., Leo is shocked to learn that Vincent is an undercover FBI agent, and the mission had been a sting to avenge Vincent’s murdered brother. Consumed by betrayal, Leo flees, resulting in a desperate chase and final confrontation.

In the heartbreaking ending, only one man survives their struggle.

If Vincent lives, he resigns from the FBI and reconciles with Carol.
If Leo survives, he delivers Vincent’s apology letter to Carol before disappearing with his family, as Vincent is laid to rest.
