The game features six festivals spread across the map, each offering something different and a different type of racing. Some feature street, highway, and city racing, some offer track racing, some offer off-road racing, and another features night racing similar to those featured in the Need for Speed series. There's also drag racing and rally racing in the Rally Adventure expansion, Hot Wheels-style racing in the expansion of the same name, and more.

In this installment, the iconic Forza Festival moves to a brand-new country and region: Mexico. The game showcases a wide variety of natural environments, from deserts and jungles to historic cities, ancient Aztec ruins, beaches, volcanoes, and mountains. Practically every landscape you can imagine is brought to life in Forza’s rendition of Mexico, which is divided into 11 distinct biomes, each with its own unique setting. This diversity enriches the races and missions you’ll undertake. On top of that, the game features a dynamic weather system that directly impacts your driving — expect everything from dust storms to heavy rain accompanied by thunder and lightning. What makes these festivals stand out are their unique opening missions. Each festival in the game begins with a special and exciting introduction that takes you to a specific location and environment, giving you a taste of the races and content tied to that festival. For example, one mission had me exploring a volcano during an eruption, while another took me through ancient ruins and historical landmarks that made me feel like I was playing Tomb Raider. Beyond these introductions, every festival includes three or four missions, each offering something different and memorable. In one of them, I even found myself racing against a train—just one of many adrenaline-pumping challenges the game delivers.

The content in Forza Horizon 5 ranges from traditional races to festival-specific missions, story-driven quests with side characters, and smaller objectives like hitting top speeds, making daring jumps, or competing against real players and AI drivers. On top of that, challenges scattered across the map reward you with valuable prizes, such as experience points, cars, and credits. The content is well-distributed across the open world and is refreshed periodically to keep the experience engaging. Add to this EventLab, which allows players to design their own custom races and share them with the community, and you’ve got a game that ensures constant variety, creativity, and replayability.
